2008 USQRA Quad Rugby National Tournament
Tournament Pool Play Recap
April 12, 2008 - Louisville, TN - The U.S. Quad Rugby National Championship is in full force on the second day. It's been a tournament of exciting action, with division 1 (D1) & division 2 (D2) competing for the national title. Hard hits, strong picks, quick cuts, and blazing speed have been the hallmarks of the top teams in the U.S.

After a day and a half of action, the 7th seed D2 Minnesota North stars are pulling out major upsets. On the first day, Minnesota took down 2nd ranked Sharp Edge 51-49 and 4th ranked Sheperd Smash 53-50. The Minnesota North Stars have continued shining brightly on the second day, winning 52-48 over the 5th ranked Magee Eagles. Also in D2, the San Antonio Ruff Ryders have won their first two games and are playing strongly. First ranked Northridge Kings lost big to 8th ranked Kentucky TNT, 44-50.

The Lakeshore Demolition have continued their dominance in division 1. They turned the 8th ranked Michigan Storm into scrap metal on the first day, 56-35. Lakeshore then followed up with impressive gameplay against a strong Hoveround Gunners team, 55-44. On the second day, a repeat of last year's national championship game took place against the defending champion Denver Harlequins. Lakeshore didn't lose this time, playing tough against a Harlequin team filled with paralympians, winning 51-43.

Also in D2, the Portland Pounders have come out with triple wins. They've defeated the Tampa Generals, 45-34. They won with a forfeit over the University of Arizona team, which were shut out of their travels by an airline industry in turmoil. On day two, the Pounders took a meat grinder to the Texas Stampede, 55-44. Portland vs Lakeshore is looking to be the D1 matchup of the tournament.
